The Strelein Warehouse by Ian Moore Architects has won the overall award at this year’s 2011 IDEA Awards in Melbourne.

The late 19th century warehouse was converted into a two-level residence with a plate steel structure flowing through the house.

Held annually, the IDEA program recognises new talent and rewards recent work across 14 categories.

A record-breaking number of entries were submitted this year, with over 400 applicants.

Other winners this year included the Gold Medal Winner, Jane Faulkner for her contribution to the Australian design industry, Anthony Gill Architects as the best new Emerging Designer, and Edwards Moore Architects for Designer of the Year.
