30 November 2011 Nestled among the stately oaks in Canterbury’s Golden Mile lies a truly impressive French Provincial-styled home And with the creative brilliance of both Paul Bangay, who styled the garden, and Stuart Rattle, who designed the home’s beautiful interior, there’s little wonder as to why it is so impressive. The attention to detail in such a landmark home is remarkable; of particular note is the expansive use of stunning natural stone throughout the home, both inside and out, supplied by CDK Stone. The home’s welcoming forecourt features granite cobblestone with Tumbled Walnut travertine inserts, which complement the made-to-measure, European-crafted entrance steps, also in Tumbled Walnut travertine. Open the home’s double doors and the first thing that strikes you is the beautiful, bespoke parquetry flooring used throughout the home. Almost as expansive is the use of natural stone; the main kitchen and butler’s kitchen feature wide Calacatta marble benches with an ornate edge profile, while Turco Argento limestone is used throughout the bathrooms; the large format tile panels cut to size by CDK Stone for great effect. Paul Bangay’s design can be appreciated through the expanses of glass at the rear of the home, which features a tennis court, swimming pool, outdoor kitchen and built-in outdoor dining table. Large-format pavers and coping, also Tumbled Walnut travertine, offset the deep sea green of the pool, while large travertine urn bases anchor the corners. For such a large project it was only natural that both Paul and Stuart turned to CDK Stone. Not only does CDK Stone have almost 30 years experience and a stunning range of natural stone from around the world, they also have access to European craftsmen who could supply the intricate stone detailing evident throughout the home.
