New President for SA Architects’ Peak Body
Nick Tridente of Tridente Architects will be appointed to the role of SA Chapter President, effective March 24, at the Institute’s National Council meeting in Perth.
Nick replaces outgoing State President David Holland (Director of DASH Architects – Danvers Schulz Holland Architects Pty Ltd), who accepted his appointment last year following Tim Horton’s resignation to take up the role of SA Commissioner for Integrated Design.
Nick is a highly respected member of the profession and the recipient of the Sir James Irwin President’s Medal in 2010, the highest award offered by the Institute within South Australia.
Passionate and vocal on issues such as the value of design and the development of South Australia, Nick is particularly pleased to accept his new role following the recent establishment of the Integrated Design Commission (IDC) and the appointment of a Government Architect, for which he has been a strong advocate.
Accepting the appointment, Nick said, “We have a responsibility as professional architects to determine suitable design outcomes for the benefit of future generations. However, the success of these outcomes is also determined by the degree to which the community places value on them. Working alongside the Government Architect and the IDC we aim to bring a much-needed understanding of the value and importance of design, and its impact, on both the quality of life for all South Australians and the future success of our state.”
