Mirroring the neighbouring park in Thu Duc, Ho Chi Minh City, the office of design studio MIA blends in with its green surroundings with a façade wrapped in lush foliage.
Inside, the workspace is designed as an open, airy studio that prioritizes efficiency and quality of creative work. The exterior spaces of the project comprise a series of peaceful spots where ideas can flourish. There, transparent glass surfaces act as flexible ‘picture frames’ that the studio team can use for presentations and exhibitions.
Enjoying office wide views of the park and surrounds through strategically designed window openings, which are specifically designed to regulate the amount of tropical sunlight that enters the building. The windows surround the entire building, placed 600mm in height from the working tables in order to ensure optimal working conditions.
The solid walls above the windows are used as pin boards to attach drawings, sketches, pictures, articles or anything else that sparks creativity. Behind each architect’s seat is a library of books, models and materials selected and organized carefully.
The ground floor is designed as a space where the team can test the climate adaptability of contemporary Vietnamese architecture. This airy zone is visually connected with a quiet garden outside, where several peaceful spots can be found. These spaces are separated by transparent glass panels and raw materials such as concrete, which express the spirit and architectural philosophy of MIA design studio.
