Sunny Interiors at San Sabino
Designed by GRT Architects, Italian restaurant San Sabino in New York’s West Village is making sure it’s sunny all year long. While the building’s historic facade has been restored and painted in a pale grey, the interior is resplendent in a butter-yellow hue.

The vibrant colour scheme, paired with highlights of cool metal tones, come together to create a playful take on sophisticated dining, reflecting the spins on the Southern Italian cuisine served by chefs Angie Rito and Scott Tacinelli.
Handmade yellow tiles greet customers behind the bar, while mottled grey stone floor tiles are patterned with smaller, glossy yellow circles and squares. Yellow panelling covers nearly every surface, with even the undersides of the bar stools coloured to blend into the sunny environment.
A ribbon of stainless steel above the bar wraps around to connect the bar area to the main dining zone, with custom polished brass sconces attached. Low-slung ribbed banquettes covered in a caramel-coloured leather surround the perimeter. Even the padded ceilings are upholstered in a beige fabric to match the surrounding tones.
