A Statement in Gunmetal

Faucet Strommen

There’s a decision to be made when renovating a heritage home: whether to decorate in keeping with the period, or to introduce a new modern edge. In this case, the owners chose to incorporate more modern elements to create a distinctive contrast, but their selection of a classic, neutral colour palette was deliberately intended to make the transition feel seamless.

Faucet Strommen

There’s little question that it does just that and, in the bathroom, the monotone colour scheme has been used to striking effect. And while tongue-and-groove panelling, herringbone-tiled flooring and a blend of two vastly different tile profiles in the shower recess lend dimension and texture, it’s the tapware selection that really punctuates the space.

Introduced initially to meet the clients’ brief for high-quality, durable, family-friendly fixtures, the Zeos mixers and Pegasi shower fixtures, both from Faucet Strommen, seem to have stolen the show, thanks in no small part to their bold gunmetal toning.

Indeed, the solid matt shade pops against the surrounding muted whites and greys, lifting the space from fresh and functional to decidedly dynamic.
