UNITRAY: Simple Solution for an Annoying Problem

When installing hot water units, there isn’t always the right amount of space under the unit. A square-shaped piece of copper or stainless steel sheet is the usual go-to for Australian plumbers (according to AS/NZS 3500), but it’s not the best.

Brisbane plumber, Brett Watson, created the UNITRAY, a solution that solves a lot of the common pain points when it comes to installing hot water and it’s available now.

What it essentially is, is an elevated platform in a pizza base that gives plumbing professionals an over-the-counter way to stand installations. It comes with everything needed from the base, tundish and its cap, a number of adaptors, the T-connector and optional attachments for elevation and multiple sized trays are available to suit small, medium and large hot water units from 50L to 315L capacities.

“The UNITRAY has an integrated internal elevating platform to maintain the gap between the hot water unit and the tray base as well as providing airflow underneath the unit,” Brett said.

“The 50mm outlet drain and regulated ‘air gap’ allow for complete compliance, further the HDPE material provides non-corrosive and non-electrical conductive features.”

Making it better, the UNITRAY is designed and manufactured in Australia and available through wholesalers in both Australia and New Zealand. There are add ons available if you need to tilt it back a few millimetres or need a more compact fitting.
