MaxiWall Helps Accelerate Builds Among Housing Shortage

Big River Group has released MaxiWall, an autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC) solution that aims to be a sustainable, affordable and rapid solution for Australia’s housing shortage.

The AAC panels can be installed by building professionals on-site to simplify coordination and reduce costs without compromising installation or product quality. One lightweight panel is the equivalent of laying approximately 75 bricks.

The design of MaxiWall prioritises energy efficiency and environmental responsibility by using 60% less embodied energy than traditional masonry. It also produces 55% less greenhouse emissions than concrete and brick.

“MaxiWall is designed with this in mind, offering a greener alternative to traditional brick and block building materials,” Big River Group executive general manager of construction Ray Ferretti says.

“By reducing greenhouse gas emissions during production and improving energy efficiency in homes, MaxiWall is not only a smart choice for the environment but also for homeowners looking for long-term savings.”

MaxiWall is versatile as it is compatible with façade materials such as timber, steel and fibre cement. Its steel reinforcement and durable render coating can withstand Australia’s climate conditions.

For building projects in bushfire zones, MaxiWall is fire-resistant and a 100% non-combustible building material.
