The Metro Outer Development Assessment Panel has approved plans for a new shopping centre within Cedar Woods’ Eglinton Village development, located at Lot 9002 Marmion Avenue, Eglinton.
The Eglinton Neighbourhood Centre is set to serve the growing masterplanned community, which will eventually comprise more than 1,200 homes.
Designed by Hames Sharley Architects, the centre will be anchored by a 3,250sqm Woolworths supermarket. The plans also include a liquor store, a café, and 250 car parking spaces, with a total gross floor area of 5,055sqm and a net lettable area of 3,242sqm. The project is expected to cost approximately $22 million.
Ownership of the 77.9ha site, which is currently vacant and subject to a subdivision application, is listed under Lonnegal Property Pty Ltd. However, ASIC records indicate that Lonnegal’s ultimate holding company is Cedar Woods Properties. In June 2024, Cedar Woods confirmed the sale of 2ha of land along Marmion Avenue to Fabcot, the development arm of Woolworths, which is named as the client in planning documents.
The approval marks a significant milestone for Cedar Woods, reinforcing its commitment to delivering essential retail infrastructure to complement its residential communities. With construction now on the horizon, the Eglinton Neighbourhood Centre is set to become a key amenity for future residents and the surrounding area.
