Cibaria brings Mediterranean flair to Manly beachfront

Sydney-based interiors studio Luchetti Krelle has unveiled Cibaria, an all-day Mediterranean restaurant located on the ground floor of the recently renovated Manly Pacific Hotel.

Offering sweeping views over Manly Beach, the 630-square-metre space is defined by its asymmetrical arches, white stucco walls, and playful red and white striped accents.

Timber-framed glass doors open into a series of richly detailed dining zones, where materiality and layout work hand-in-hand to evoke a relaxed yet elevated coastal atmosphere. The restaurant includes two open kitchens with bar seating, a central dining area framed by curved banquettes, and a pair of private dining rooms.

Terracotta pavers and colourful patterned tiles help to delineate spaces, with thickly grouted pavers reserved for the more formal dining rooms overlooking the sea. In the rear section, a combination of pistachio and terracotta terrazzo flooring bordered by checkerboard tiles marks a shift to the open kitchen and casual seating. A lighter terrazzo appears in the adjacent ice cream shop, designed to camouflage sand tracked in from the beach.

Throughout, timber features prominently, with fluted panelling lining the maître d’ stand and banquette bases. Arched openings cut from white stucco walls create soft sightlines across the space while channelling the surrealist architecture of Jacques Couëlle’s Cala di Volpe hotel in Sardinia. These carved walls also feature “grotto-like” niches, including a trio of archways framing a gold-toned wine cabinet.

The restaurant’s core palette of red, white and green nods to the Italian flag and the venue’s modern Mediterranean menu. Red and white stripes appear across awnings, seating and even the ceiling cornices of the private dining areas. In the bathrooms, dusty pink terracotta walls and a silver travertine vanity continue the language of curves and colour.

With its layered materiality, sun-washed tones and European charm, Cibaria blends beachside ease with refined detailing. Luchetti Krelle’s vision adds another chapter to the Manly Pacific Hotel’s revitalisation, cementing it as a design-forward hospitality destination.
