Curves and Community: Fox Fox Studio Designs Serene Retail Space

Maternity lifestyle brand Bumpsuit has once again teamed up with Australian design studio Fox Fox Studio for the launch of its latest retail space, located at the Domain in Austin, Texas.

This marks the second collaboration between Bumpsuit founder Nicole Trunfio and Fox Fox Studio, following the success of their debut pop-up at the Grove in Los Angeles in 2023.

The new store reflects Bumpsuit’s celebration of pregnancy and motherhood through a thoughtful design language built around curves, softness and serenity. Fox Fox Studio has crafted a calming interior using undulating plywood walls that mirror the natural forms of the pregnant body. The flowing timber structures define distinct shopping zones, including a display for Bumpsuit’s signature baby carrier, the Armadillo, and a curated “marketplace” for essential baby products. Digital displays embedded within the walls offer ship-to-home options, blending tactile retail with seamless e-commerce.

At the heart of the space is a circular seating area that serves a dual purpose: a place for community workshops and gatherings, and a functional playpen where young children can safely play while parents shop. The design reinforces the brand’s ethos of support and inclusivity, offering a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere for expecting and new mothers.

Custom-designed point-of-sale tables echo the soft, organic shapes found throughout the space, inviting interaction and exploration. Toward the rear, a gently curved branded wall conceals a semi-private fitting area. Plush, neutral-tone carpet and skin-toned velvet curtains add warmth and comfort, while a mirrored wall inspired by 1980s trifold vanity mirrors introduces a touch of playful nostalgia.

With its Austin outpost, Bumpsuit continues to blend style, functionality and maternal empowerment, while Fox Fox Studio’s elegant spatial storytelling reinforces the emotional and practical needs of its community. The result is a considered, flexible retail concept that responds to both brand and customer with equal care.
