Energy efficient Zip HydroTap

A simple galley-style kitchen has been transformed into a fully functional, entertainment-friendly space by designer Darren James of Interiors by Darren James.

The client wanted to create a large, open-plan living/dining space that could handle serious entertaining as well as indulge the homeowner’s love of cooking. Darren James knew state-of-the-art appliances were the best choice to ensure the level of functionality required. Joining a range of Miele and Gaggenau appliances is a Zip HydroTap which delivers instant boiling and chilled filtered water for drinking and cooking.

“To create a tactile quality, I used a combination of timber, concrete and stone. The sink is located centrally on the island and equipped with a Zip HydroTap next to the sink. I always specify Zip’s HydroTap because it’s energy efficient, provides excellent filtration and I know it can deliver the functionality my clients need,” says Darren James.

The new 6.5-metre-long kitchen is located in a previously unused spare room on the ground floor and features a custom-designed timber screen where a stairwell wall has been cut open. This allows light and air to stream into the transformed space. Simple, geometric lines and modern finishes create a depth of design as well as adding visual interest to the new kitchen.

New carbonised oak timber flooring with a spruce coating buffed into the grain was laid throughout the lower level to create a cohesive design finish across the large, open space. The flooring has been finished with a commercial-grade wax to ensure longevity and durability.

Zip HydroTap Boiling and Chilled is now available with an additional Sparkling water option to deliver your favourite chilled sparkling water at the touch of a button.
