ERDOS Land Retail Store Embraces Playful Pink Design

In Ordos, China, ERDOS Land has unveiled its largest retail store, a 2,600-square-metre factory shop positioned within the company’s new headquarters complex. Designed as a flagship environment, the store brings together all five of the brand’s labels under one roof, supported by 700 square metres of amenities including a café, tourist centre and children’s play area.

The design is characterised by a bold use of colour, with pink frames and surrounds softening the perceived mood of the space. Highlight tones create subtle optical vibrations that bring a lighter, more playful quality, while colour combinations are carefully balanced to ensure garments remain the focus. The choice of palette was guided by an intent to evoke joy and happiness, making the act of shopping feel both uplifting and engaging.

A continuous, ribbon-like pink rack runs through the store as its central organising element. This device supports task lighting, frames the extensive scale of displayed items and assists with wayfinding, guiding customers through the shop’s offerings. Circulation is carefully considered, with four central islands allowing the space to be navigated either as a continuous loop or through figure-of-eight pathways. Each island is dedicated to a specific garment type, including scarves, jumpers, accessories and general wear. Along the perimeter, opposing booths house the individual brand labels.

Aggregate pillars between booths discreetly incorporate fitting rooms, while the children’s range takes on a more immersive approach. Here, play facilities are integrated directly into the retail displays, with chandeliers doubling as garment rails and climbing structures that transform pipes into playful devices. A contoured barrisol ceiling enhances this effect, contrasting with the simple geometry of the main lighting scheme.

The entire store sits beneath an uninterrupted barrisol ceiling, its seamless surface providing even light distribution while reducing harsh shadows. This creates a soft, positive atmosphere that complements the colour-driven scheme. By blending commerce with play, ERDOS Land demonstrates how retail architecture can enhance experience, ensuring functionality does not come at the expense of delight.
