Porcelain Design House Fos Ceramiche Sculpts Art for the Home

In February, earlier this year, some of Europe’s most undiscovered designer interior brands made their way onto the discerning design scene in Melbourne and Sydney alongside the likes of Alessi and Salviati. Appearing at Exhibit was a line of exclusive porcelain objects from Fos Ceramiche, sourced in Verona at the annual interior design fair Abitare il Tempo.

About the Collection

The handmade stoneware vases stand out with their lively colours and part of the collection, NATURALIA. In the upper part, the long central stem supports several extensions, similar to corals, where the branchlike effect is emphasised by the use of two contrasting colours. The positioning of objects of different heights creates an interesting play on volumes and dimensions. The colours chosen for the collection are handmade, to emphasise the uniqueness of each item. NATURALIA, produced by FOS in collaboration with the designers of ELICA, is the new production of objects that are freely inspired by nature.

About the Designers: Elisabetta Bovina and Carlo Pastore

Elisabetta Bovina and Carlo Pastore were born respectively in 1961 and 1965 in Broni and Corbara. After high school, they attended ISIA (Istituto Superiore per le Industrie Artistiche) in Faenza. Besides designing and personally producing their works using different materials such as wood, iron, ceramics, glass, they collaborated with companies, designing objects and furniture. Bovina is also a freelance journalist and from 1994 to 2009 was the editor-in-chief of La ceramica moderna e antica, an Italian magazine about ceramics and applied arts.

Since 1995, they have been producing their work with the brand ELICA and for more than a decade, they have been focusing on ceramic clothes, often showing their pieces in modern ballets and other performances that blend ceramics, music, poetry and theatre. In 2009, together with Maura Pozzati and Giovanni Bolognini, they opened a showroom devoted to ceramics and applied arts in the historical centre of Bologna, Crete. In 2010, in cooperation with FOS Ceramiche, they exhibited new collections in Paris, Maison et Objet and Milan.
