Refined Minimalism: Mariha’s New Showroom in Tokyo

Japanese studio Keiji Ashizawa Design has unveiled a serene and minimalist showroom and office for jewellery and fashion brand Mariha in Tokyo, blending neutral tones and natural materials to create a multifunctional space that exudes the warmth of a home.

Upon entering the Mariha Salon, visitors are guided through a slim corridor framed by a large plaster wall. This passage opens into a welcoming living room and lounge, where plush seating and carefully curated displays invite guests to relax and explore the brand’s offerings.

The studio took a refined approach to the design, opting for oak furniture and soft neutral hues that subtly enhance the sparkle of Mariha’s jewellery. Furniture pieces from Karimoku Case, including luxurious sofas, chairs, and oak tables, anchor the space, while gold accents and soft carpeted flooring add a touch of elegance.

A striking feature of the showroom is a custom oak display case, spanning an entire wall. Curated by interior stylist Yumi Nakata, this showcase artfully displays Mariha’s jewellery and fashion items, further blurring the lines between retail and residential.

Keiji Ashizawa emphasised the importance of materials in achieving the space’s harmonious aesthetic. “The materials were chosen to align with the aesthetic of existing showrooms and shops, while incorporating more furniture to evoke the warmth of a cosy living space,” he explained.

Adjacent to the living area, a compact office space lies behind wooden doors. At its centre, a large wooden table with gold-hued legs and matching chairs mirrors the design language of the showroom. Ashizawa noted the careful selection of textiles to ensure harmony across curtains, carpets, and furnishings, resulting in a unified palette of soft, monochromatic gradients.

The Mariha Salon is a testament to Keiji Ashizawa Design’s ability to balance functionality and elegance, creating a space that is both practical and poetic. With its understated design and meticulous attention to detail, the showroom offers an inviting setting for showcasing Mariha’s work while evoking the intimacy of a home.
