Soho Farmhouse Brings Rustic Charm to Ibiza

Soho House has unveiled its latest project, Soho Farmhouse Ibiza, located in the inland village of Santa Gertrudis. Set within a nine-acre olive grove, the retreat translates the members-only brand’s rural hospitality ethos to the Balearic Islands, reimagining a traditional finca into a countryside escape imbued with the island’s bohemian character.

Led by interior designer Sophie Baker, the renovation emphasises continuity with the existing architecture rather than transformation. “The building originated as a family home, and there’s a real warmth to it from the moment you walk in,” Baker explains. “Given the building’s inherent charm, our aim was to avoid altering its foundation much at all.” Terracotta floors, timber beams, and whitewashed walls provide a tactile base for the interiors, which embrace the farmhouse typology typical of rural Ibiza.

The 2,246-square-metre estate incorporates a central house, a three-bedroom annex, two villas, and shared amenities including a club, restaurant, bar, library, boutique, and wellness centre. White facades, low rooflines, and masonry walls anchor the ensemble within its setting, while interiors respond directly to Ibiza’s natural palette. Warm woods, organic textures, curated antiques, and delicate lighting are paired with rattan headboards, linen four-posters, and leather-upholstered furnishings. Glassware from the 1970s, plaster lamps by local artisans, and patterned silk rugs provide subtle nods to the island’s heritage.

Bedrooms are marked by restraint and seasonal sensitivity. Hints of orange and green in the palette reflect the surrounding landscape, while shutters, linen textiles, and integrated freezers respond to the island’s climate. Bathrooms continue the tactile approach with smoked terracotta floors, neutral plaster walls, and hand-carved timber vanities featuring latticework inspired by traditional Ibizan baskets.

The art collection, curated by Soho House Chief Art Director Kate Bryan, highlights artists from or connected to the Balearic Islands. Seventy works by twenty-one artists are displayed throughout, including Adriana Meunié’s large-scale tapestries, Stefan Brüggemann’s gold-leaf paintings, and Jesús de Miguel’s outdoor sculpture referencing local folklore. A ceiling installation of more than 200 handmade elements by Natalie Rich punctuates the library, while a light projection by Javier Riera animates the gardens.

Together, these layers reinforce Soho Farmhouse Ibiza as a project that is both rooted in place and globally resonant, balancing authenticity with refined hospitality.
