La Fantaisie Hotel designed as a tranquil urban retreat

In the heart of the bustling city, La Fantaisie Hotel stands as a testament to architectural brilliance and urban renewal.

Designed by PETITDIDIERPRIOUX Architects, this remarkable transformation of an existing hotel has breathed new life into a classic structure while adding a touch of modernity and tranquillity to the urban landscape.

The first remarkable feature of La Fantaisie Hotel is its commitment to preserving the original structure. Rather than demolishing and starting from scratch, the architects opted for extensive renovations that retained the building’s core. This approach not only saved valuable resources but also ensured a unique blend of history and contemporary design.

One of the primary goals of this renovation was to create a serene escape within the bustling city. PETITDIDIERPRIOUX Architects achieved this by expanding the hotel’s garden area and enhancing accessibility. The enlarged garden becomes a green oasis in the heart of the city, offering guests a tranquil retreat amidst the urban chaos.

A standout feature of La Fantaisie Hotel is the immersive experience it offers to its guests. The hotel was designed as a journey, with a particular focus on the garden side. Here, a vast glass roof stretches across the entire width of the property, creating a seamless connection between the indoors and the outdoors. The restaurant, aptly named “Golden Poppy” by Dominique Crenn, provides diners with a bucolic landscape to enjoy while savouring their meals.

The architectural transformation of La Fantaisie Hotel is most evident in its signature façade. Crafted from per-patinated gray-green zinc, this luminous filter between the rooms and the street pays homage to the Parisian landscape. It not only adds a touch of elegance to the urban silhouette but also captures the essence of the city’s architectural heritage.
