Zadie Workwear: Tradie Gear Built by Women, for Women

At a sold-out event in early October 2023, plumber-turned-tiny house builder and reality TV star, Aimee Stanton, launched the Zadie Workwear, the female workwear brand. In partnership with Empowered Women in Trades, the event was held at the North Melbourne Football Club’s Huddle space.

Aimee says that the idea behind the brand came from her own experience of being unable to find workwear when she was a plumber. Zadie is a result of a two-year mission to give women and non-binary people a workwear option that supported the female form so women in trades could feel comfortable on the worksite.

Zadie Workwear’s purpose-driven approach, combined with real tradeswomen modeling the gear at the event, sends a powerful message: every woman deserves comfortable, functional and stylish workwear that caters to her specific needs.

“Zadie Workwear just isn’t about making women and non-binary people comfortable and confident on the job site; it is about bringing a community together, and the recent launch event showed how powerful we are when we all come together,” Aimee says.

While researching for the workwear range, Aimee says that she wanted to make clothes that could perfectly fit women’s “hips, thighs and butts”. She also attended the launch event at 37 weeks pregrant, demonstrating how the range caters to pregnant tradies as well.

“This partnership is more than just a fashion statement; it’s a step toward a future where women and non-binary individuals in trades have the recognition, support and attire they deserve,” Empowered Women in Trades founder Hacia Atherton says.

“Empowerment comes in many forms, and today, we’re empowering women to take the lead, both on the job and in their wardrobe choices.”
