Rheem Australia opens its 2024 plumbing grants

Rheem Australia is encouraging Australian apprentice plumbers and gas fitters from all corners of the country to apply for a share of $60,000, available through its 2024 Rheem Apprentice Plumber Grants program.

This year, Rheem has increased the number of grants on offer to 20, to support even more up-and-coming apprentice plumbers in the progression of their studies and help launch their plumbing careers.

Recipients will receive $2,000 to assist with their TAFE/RTO fees and textbooks and $1,000 to help build their essential trade toolbox. With many apprentices aspiring to run their own businesses, the award also opens doors to complete an optional fourth year of study to earn their tradesman’s licence.

“The Rheem Apprentice Plumber Grants program was established to reinforce Rheem’s commitment to the next generation of Australian plumbers, beyond products and innovation,” Rheem Australia managing director, ANZ, Chris Taylor says.

“Since 2012, we have proudly awarded more than $360,000 to apprentice plumbers around the country. This year, to further support the education and training of Australia’s plumbing community, we have doubled our contribution.”

One of last year’s grant recipients from Queensland, Brandon Pershouse, aspires to be the best plumber/gas fitter in the Rockhampton region. “My vision is to become one of the best plumbers and to challenge myself to strive for plumbing perfection. I know this can be achieved if I keep up my hard work,” he says.

“The Rheem Apprentice Plumber Grant allowed me to pursue my apprenticeship, making it easier for me to focus on learning and growing in the field. I was able to purchase some smaller technical tools which has allowed me to be more independent on the job site.”

A panel of independent industry experts and a Rheem adjudicator will judge the 2024 Rheem Apprentice Plumber Grants.

Applications for the 2024 Rheem Apprentice Plumber Grants program are now open and will close at 11:59pm on Sunday 28 April 2024. Successful grant recipients will be announced in June 2024.
