Glass Garden Glamour as Locke Hotels Opens Paris Outpost in Historic Mansions

In the heart of Paris’s 5th arrondissement, where the grandeur of the Jardin des Plantes meets centuries of architectural heritage, Locke Hotels has unveiled its latest offering, Le Jardin de Verre.Transforming two French baroque mansions and a 19th-century factory into a 145-room hotel, the London and Los Angeles-based interiors studio Fettle was tasked with unifying the trio of heritage buildings via a lush, plant-filled courtyard.

The result is a contemporary retreat that embraces its storied setting. Drawing inspiration from the neighbouring botanical gardens, Fettle integrated extensive greenery into the interiors, from a glass atrium bursting with foliage to potted plants and a botanical mural that sets the tone at reception.

Colour, materiality and light play starring roles throughout. The central atrium—now home to the hotel’s bar and restaurant—features restored industrial metalwork offset by oversized chandeliers and a bold palette of pinks, reds and oranges. “We wanted to be playful with colour and materiality throughout all of the spaces,” says Fettle co-founder Andy Goodwin. “The Locke team are always keen to ensure their properties have a sense of fun.”

This sense of play extends to a second, more intimate cocktail bar behind reception, which embraces warm peach and coral tones. Colour blocking, exposed building elements, and custom lighting allow each space to shift in mood and atmosphere, reflecting both the building’s past and the brand’s forward-looking aesthetic.

Locke’s in-house team led the design of the guest rooms, blending 18th-century townhouse references with mid-20th-century industrial cues. Golden yellow walls, brass velvet upholstery and custom textiles from Studio Knot add a vibrant yet curated flair. Suites boast statement orange kitchenettes, sage curtains and layered lighting, with signature suites Begonia and Roseraie styled in soft pinks and greens, curved furniture and bespoke fittings.

Whether serving as a restful sanctuary or a social venue, Le Jardin de Verre offers a richly detailed, sensory celebration of history and hospitality in one of Paris’s most botanical corners.
