Edition Office and Neometro Bring Sculptural Precision to Fitzroy

A new limited series of 18 apartments in Fitzroy, Melbourne, has been unveiled by award-winning architects Edition Office in collaboration with design-focused development group Neometro.

Located at 450 Gore Street, the project is set among the suburb’s quiet, leafy streets, yet just steps away from the vibrant Gertrude, Smith, and Brunswick streets.

The architecture balances timelessness with distinct identity, elevated by sculptural detailing that refines the building’s form. Each element has been carefully consolidated to reflect both the present moment and a sense of permanence, a quality that has long defined Neometro’s residential projects.

Inside, the residences range from one to three bedrooms, responding to the growing demand for apartment living in increasingly dense urban environments. Materials such as concrete are celebrated not only for their durability but also for their ability to capture texture and time. While the building speaks with a robust structural language, the interiors are designed to be soft and responsive to daily life. Edition Office has imagined the small rituals of living eating, sleeping, and bathing to create spaces imbued with atmosphere, light, and a tactile quality that enriches the everyday.

Kitchens, dining, and living areas have been planned with proportion and purpose, encouraging both cooking and entertaining in absolute comfort. Volume is also central to the design, with loft apartments offering five-metre-high ceilings that heighten a sense of generosity. This commitment to scale and spatial clarity has become a defining feature of Neometro’s work.

Outlook is another priority, with apartments oriented toward Fitzroy’s tree-lined streets, the neighbouring suburbs, or the city skyline. Dual-aspect residences and heritage protections in the area ensure that these leafy vistas remain part of the living experience.

Sustainability is also at the forefront. The project is targeting a 7.5 star NatHERS energy rating, supported by a 10-year carbon neutral power agreement, fully electric services, and high thermal insulation. These measures provide year-round comfort without reliance on gas.

Measured and meticulous, 450 Gore Street is designed to endure, offering residences that are both sculptural and deeply attuned to contemporary urban living.
