Stone inspiration shapes contemporary kitchen and bathroom surfaces

Italian brand Casalgrande Padana has built a reputation as a prolific producer of ceramic and stoneware tiles, translating the character of natural materials into durable surfaces for contemporary interiors.

Established more than 60 years ago and named for its headquarters in Casalgrande, Italy, the company now operates six factories nationwide, continuing a long-standing focus on technical refinement and material research.

This commitment is clearly expressed in the Alabastri tile collection, which draws inspiration from the cloudy and almost luminous quality of alabaster stone. Historically used in sculpture and decorative objects, alabaster is reinterpreted here as a refined surface suited to kitchens and bathrooms, where light and texture play an important role in shaping atmosphere. The collection captures the depth and translucency associated with the natural material, offering a soft visual movement that brings interest to splashbacks, feature walls and floors.

Alabastri is available in five colourways, including black, blue, green, pink and white, and comes in five different size formats. This flexibility allows designers to tailor layouts to both compact and expansive spaces, supporting applications ranging from full-height bathroom walls to kitchen islands and benchtops where visual continuity is key.

Casalgrande Padana’s broader exploration of stone continues with the Lithos collection, which references Portland stone native to England’s south coast. The Beige and Tortora tiles in particular feature a gently granulated surface and sandy tones that echo the appearance of the historic material. Portland stone has been used in many landmark buildings, including the Palace of Westminster and the Tower of London, lending the collection a quiet sense of architectural heritage. Lithos is offered in neutral hues including Beige, Bianco, Grigio, Nero, Taupe and Tortora, all available across six size formats suitable for kitchens and bathrooms alike.

Further versatility is found in the Concept range. Indoor tiles are available in a variety of shapes, from hexagons to rectangles, with a gently dappled surface that creates a subtle dimensional effect across floors and walls. The Concept outdoor tiles mirror this mottled finish while incorporating an anti-slip surface for safer use in exposed areas. With colour options including black, grey, white and greige, the range supports seamless transitions between interior spaces and outdoor living areas.

Together, these collections highlight Casalgrande Padana’s ability to reinterpret stone for contemporary kitchen and bathroom design, balancing visual richness with technical performance.
