Escea Introduces LR Series Holographic Electric Fireplace

Escea has launched its LR Series of holographic fireplaces, featuring an uninterrupted ribbon of holographic flame over a bed of crushed black glass.

Developed as a new approach to electric fireplace design, the LR Series embraces minimal form to deliver maximum impact. The fireplaces use holographic projection technology to replicate the movement, colour and depth of natural flame. Like Escea’s preceding LE Series, the development process involved recording gas and ethanol fires to capture and reproduce the characteristics of real flames.

This technology is patent-pending and was a finalist in the New Zealand Best Design Awards 2026. Owen Clements, Electric Engineering Manager at Escea, says that the LR Series is “the first of its kind”. “There is no other holographic fireplace producing a pure continuous ribbon of flame in this form”, he says. “We’ve created a new category…and defied what people thought was possible for electric fireplaces.”

The fireplace incorporates reflective side panels within the firebox, visually extending the flame to create a sense of depth and continuity. A bed of crushed black glass provides contrast and reflects the projected flame, while the streamlined firebox is designed to integrate with contemporary architectural interiors. Richard Miller, Architectural Advisor at Escea, says the LR Series is a “game-changer” for the apartment and multi-residential market. The series joins Escea’s existing collection of gas, electric and wood fireplaces.

The fireplaces offer four selectable flame styles, ranging from subtle background ambience to fuller, more dynamic effects. Flame settings, heat output and other functions can be controlled via Escea’s SmartHeat App or slimline touchscreen remote, with features including thermostat regulation, timers and a flame-only mode.

From a specification perspective, the LR Series is designed for installation without a flue or vents, providing greater flexibility in placement. Fireplaces also feature cool-touch glass and a Zero Clearance rating, allowing materials including timber, stone and joinery to be positioned adjacent to the unit. Subject to installation requirements, TVs can also be positioned directly above the fireplace. The inbuilt LR Series is available in four sizes, ranging from compact models through to units approaching two metres in width. Freestanding options are also available. All models offer selectable heat outputs of 1.5kW or 3kW.

Offering a range of installation configurations, the LR Series is designed for residential, multi-residential and commercial builds. Escea Fireplaces combine refined aesthetics with high performance engineering, delivering warmth and style across contemporary architecture and heritage renovations.
