Rooted in the Japanese philosophy of finding beauty in imperfection, simplicity and the passage of time, Wabi Sabi embraces materials for what they naturally are. Rather than hiding variation, it celebrates the character that develops as materials interact with their surroundings and age.

Rockcote Lime Plaster embodies many of these qualities. A fine-grained natural lime plaster for interior and exterior surfaces, it creates depth and subtle variation that cannot be replicated by a conventional flat painted finish. It can be tinted in a wide range of natural colours using mineral pigments, with the material developing its own distinctive patina over time.

Part of its appeal is the freedom to shape the finished surface. Different application methods using floats, sponges, Japanese trowels and stainless-steel trowels can create everything from understated, smooth finishes to more expressive handcrafted textures. This makes Lime Plaster equally at home across expansive walls and architectural features where texture and materiality become part of the design.

Rockcote Natural Materials are manufactured using naturally occurring minerals and raw materials, so subtle differences in colour, composition and mineral characteristics are inherent to the finished result. Over time, Lime Plaster may develop tonal variation, gradual colour changes and other signs of natural ageing, qualities that add to its evolving patina rather than detract from it.
