Structural Excellence Redefined

Unlocking the Potential of Fluo2Max
In the world of tensile architecture, the margin between a project that lasts and one that fails lies in the polymer chemistry and the quality of the finish. As architectural designs become more ambitious, the demand for high-performance, long-lasting membranes has never been higher.

This month, Ricky Richards are highlighting the Fluo2Max range, a flagship series from Sioen, engineered specifically for those who refuse to compromise on aesthetics or structural integrity.

The Fluo2Max range is distinguished by its sophisticated PVDF (Polyvinylidene Fluoride) lacquer. This isn’t just a coating; it’s a protective shield that repels environmental pollutants, and maintains a brilliant white finish for years. Fluo2Max features a titanium dioxide, maintaining a brilliant white finish for years.

Fluo2Max Type 1: The Versatile Performer (725gsm)
For projects where lightness and flexibility are as crucial as durability, Fluo2Max Type 1 is the definitive choice. Weighing in at 600gsm, this membrane is optimised for smaller to medium-span tensile structures, such as high-end gazebos, restaurant pergolas, and complex architectural umbrellas.

Despite its lighter profile, Type 1 does not sacrifice protection. It features the same high-gloss PVDF finish found in the heavier grades, providing excellent UV resistance and an “easy-clean” surface that sheds dirt with every rainfall. For fabricators, Type 1 offers exceptional weldability and pliability, making it the ideal substrate for intricate designs with sharp curves or tight corners.

Fluo2Max Type 2: The Heavyweight Champion (900gsm)
When the scale increases, so do the stakes. Fluo2Max Type 2 is engineered for large-scale commercial and industrial applications where high tensile strength is non-negotiable. At 900gsm, this membrane is designed to handle significant wind loads and structural tension over vast spans, such as large-scale car park covers and permanent public concourses.

Constructed with a high-tenacity polyester base cloth and a robust Panama weave, Type 2 offers superior dimensional stability. The double-sided PVDF lacquer provides a dual layer of protection, ensuring the underside stays as pristine as the exterior. This is a “fit and forget” solution, backed by the global reputation of Sioen’s engineering, designed to withstand the harshest elements while maintaining its structural “memory” without sagging.

Fluo2max: The New Benchmark in Structural Longevity
While Ricky Richards are constantly innovating with new digital tools, its commitment to physical product excellence remains the backbone of Ricky Richards. Nowhere is this more evident than in the Fluo2Max tensile architecture range. Engineered by Sioen to withstand the most punishing Australian UV conditions, Fluo2Max Type 1 and Type 2 membranes now come with an industry-leading 20-year warranty. This isn’t just a number, it is a guarantee backed by sophisticated polymer chemistry, featuring a TiO₂ (Titanium Dioxide) prime coat barrier and a dual-sided PVDF lacquer. These innovations ensure that the structures maintain their structural integrity, “low-wick” performance, and brilliant aesthetic for decades, providing architects and developers with ultimate peace of mind and a “fit and forget” solution for the most ambitious designs.

Why Fluo2Max?
Beyond the weight and weave, the Fluo2Max range is defined by its longevity. Both types are flame retardant and treated with anti-fungal agents to prevent internal mould growth (wicking). Whether you are designing a boutique alfresco space or a massive transit hub, Fluo2Max provides the optical brilliance and mechanical reliability that modern architecture demands.
