Alessi for children

A Christmas initiative by Alessi, in partnership with charity Ai.Bi, has built a foster home in the Congo.

Design not only can improve a home, but build one.

Alessi is internationally renowned for its commitment to creating beautiful Italian home wares, yet few also know of its commitment to ongoing, charitable projects across the globe.

Last year the company initiated their biggest charity scheme yet, donating one Euro for every item purchased internationally during the peak Christmas period to non-governmental organisation, Ai.Bi (The Friends of The Children.)

The raised funds covered the renovation costs of a foster home in the war-ravished Democratic Republic of Congo. Here, many Congolese children have spent years wandering the streets orphaned through conflict. Others have lived rejected from the community after being falsely labelled as “witch children”. Now, 35 of these children have found a home at the new Ai.Bi facility. For many, it is their first positive experience of family.

Alongside this project, Alessi has partnered with Ai.Bi to aid in Italy, Ukraine, Colombia, Peru, Nepal, Mongolia and Brazil. Both organisations hope their efforts will give abandoned children across the globe a brighter future.
