The Biennale of Sydney has announced that it has two new board directors. “We are pleased to announce Kate Mills and James Roth as Board Directors of the Biennale of Sydney,” said Chairman Phillip Keir. “Kate has extensive experience across law, commerce and government, and James brings a wealth of senior management experience from the finance sector. Both are passionate supporters of contemporary art and their skills will further enhance the diverse expertise of the current board.”
Kate Mills
Kate Mills has more than 20 years’ experience advising and representing both public and private company boards, directors and executives. Kate established a private corporate and regulatory consultancy business in 2013 and was a partner of international professional services firm King and Wood Mallesons for almost a decade until December 2013. Previously, Kate held senior positions at organisations including the Australian Stock Exchange (2000–2002) and Blake Dawson Waldron (now Ashurst, 1991–2002), and worked for almost a decade in a variety of Federal Government roles.
A fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and the Australian Institute of Management, Kate is a founding director of the ICLC Foundation.
James Roth
Over the past 20 years, James Roth has held numerous roles in the banking and finance sector, working across Australia, London and Hong Kong. He has extensive experience advising corporates in Asia and Australia. Prior to his current appointment as Managing Director, Co-Head of Corporate Finance, Australia and New Zealand at Deutsche Bank, James worked for UBS Investment Banking Department (1998–2010), Schroders (1994–1998) and Arthur Anderson (1989–1994).
James is a member and patron of the Asian Art Archive Collectors Circle and is a patron of the Asian Australian Artist Association Inc, which initiated the 4A Centre for Contemporary Asian Art
