Luxury Home Design and Grand Designs Australia magazines help launch Grand Designs Australia Series

Luxury Home Design and Grand Designs Australia magazines joined forces to put on a gala industry night at The Point in Melbourne on the eve of the Grand Designs LIVE Expo to launch Grand Designs Magazine and series #3 of the popular TV show.

Managing editor Kate St James gave the main presentation with Grand Designs UK host, Kevin McCloud, and Australia’s Peter Maddison. “As a publication that is for people with projects, we at Luxury Home Design are enjoying having Grand Designs as a running partner in the game,” commented Universal Magazines publisher, Janice Williams. “Everyone in the broader home industry gains from a more design-literate public, as a design-literate public recognises the value of things.”

Last weekend, Grand Designs LIVE Expo arrived in Sydney and our very own Tessa Hoult, assistant editor of Luxury Home Design and Grand Designs Australia magazine, attended. Tessa shares with us her adventures at Hall 3 of the Sydney Exhibition Centre.

“I arrived at 10am in the stifling 34-degree Sydney heat and the atmosphere in the minutes leading up to the opening of Grand Designs LIVE Sydney was at boiling point. I was told people had started lining up from 8.30am to make sure they caught a glimpse of Peter Maddison and Jamie Durie as they opened the show.

“Lead down a tunnel with the familiar Grand Designs theme playing, and receiving their show guides, visitors were treated to five home shows in one. These covered interiors, building, kitchens, bathrooms and the outdoors. There was also an array of exhibitors on show and numerous presentations from various Lifestyle channel personalities.

“Literally a home enthusiast’s playground, the Grand Designs LIVE Sydney show was a burst of great products, designs and ideas sure to inspire anyone about to undertake their own Grand Design.”
