In the wake of the designEX cancellation, the Australian design world was quite sad to see a gap in the market when it comes to trade fairs showcasing unique and original design, but we are happy to announce that a new show has joined the fold and looks to be something special indeed. A new design trade fair committed to promoting original Australian & International design has been announced, DEN Furniture and Design Fair. It is the brainchild of Thibaud Cau-Cecile, the founder of Life Instyle and The Wearer’s Right.
DEN will be held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre from May 14 – 16 forming part of the 2015 Design Matters: Melbourne International Design Week.
DEN is a juried event and will only showcase the best original Australian design, plus key international designers.
Furniture, soft furnishings, textile, lighting, outdoors, home designer products and home wares will be included, making this show a mecca for those who love to discover beautifully designed objects.
The vision for the show is to place Australian design firmly on the international agenda. In addition to shows held in Australia, DEN is planning to also take place in major overseas design pavilions such as 100% Design, Milan Furniture Fair and Maison&Objet (Paris & Singapore).
“For the first time you will be able to see the best in Australian & International design under-one-roof,” said Thibaud. “We want to show well-known original designers, plus unearth new and innovative designers from all over Australia and beyond,” he said.
Exhibitors must apply to be selected to exhibit at DEN and organisers are taking expression of interest in exhibiting at this email address: enquire@denfair.com.au
“We are asking those in the industry to nominate businesses who are designing and manufacturing amazing objects but are lesser known,” said Thibaud. “The combination of having the best in the industry with some extraordinary surprises will make DEN a stand-out global design show.”
