New Rules Create Opportunity for Off-the-Plan Specialists

A significant shift in the Australian real estate landscape has opened new doors for agencies specialising in off-the-plan properties.

From 1 April 2025, foreign individuals, temporary residents, and foreign-owned companies will be barred from purchasing established dwellings for two years, following new government legislation aimed at easing housing pressures.

However, international buyers are still permitted to invest in new or near-new dwellings, including off-the-plan developments—offering fertile ground for agencies prepared to meet this rising demand.

Blacktown-based QFirst Property Investment Group is one such agency poised to benefit. Founded by real estate veteran Marites Idea Novis, QFirst is dedicated to guiding first-home buyers and investors—both local and international—through the complex property market. With a strong focus on off-the-plan residential real estate, the agency has built its reputation on offering strategic advice and support that empowers clients to achieve long-term financial goals.

Now under the leadership of Marites’ son, Francis Gerard Novis II, QFirst is embracing the new market dynamics with confidence. “With the new laws in place, we are witnessing a surge in interest from foreign buyers eager to explore off-the-plan opportunities,” said Ms Novis, who remains actively involved as a mentor. “Our mission is to guide these investors through the complexities of the Australian property market, ensuring they make informed decisions that align with their financial goals.”

The Novis family’s ongoing involvement, including daughter Trizia Novis in a sales consultancy role, underscores QFirst’s deep commitment to its clients and to the business itself.

As the property sector adjusts to the implications of the foreign buyer ban, QFirst Property Investment Group is positioning itself as a leader in the off-the-plan space—offering a comprehensive service that spans promotion, listing, marketing, and sales of pre-developed and completed residential projects.

For an evolving market in need of agile, expert guidance, QFirst’s client-first approach and generational leadership provide a promising path forward.
