One Park Lane poised to become Australia’s tallest tower

Architecture studios BKK Architects and Cottee Parker have unveiled proposals for One Park Lane, a supertall skyscraper development on the Gold Coast that, if realised, would become the tallest building in Australia.

Developed by Melbourne-based Baracon in partnership with developer Tony Goss, the project comprises two towers on a 1,507-square-metre site in Southport.

The centrepiece is a 101-storey residential tower reaching almost 400 metres, paired with a 60-storey commercial tower. Together, the buildings would eclipse the existing Q1 Tower and also surpass the 356-metre skyscraper proposed for Melbourne by UNStudio and Cox Architects.

The concept was first designed by BKK Architects and later refined by Cottee Parker for the building phase. Currently under planning assessment by the City of Gold Coast, the project is intended to respond to pressing housing needs while creating a new commercial hub.

“This development will help address the desperate need for more housing on the Gold Coast and stimulate broader economic activity,” said Baracon managing director Brett Rogers. “We know the private sector has a vital role to play in helping ease the housing shortage here on the Gold Coast and we’re proud to be part of that solution.”

The two towers will be connected by a curved glass bridge at their 22nd levels, offering panoramic views of the city. At ground level, a three-storey podium shaped by a reflective, sculptural façade will integrate the buildings with the surrounding streetscape. Below ground, the towers will share a car park.

Design renders reveal curve-edged silhouettes with terraces and expansive glazing. The commercial tower will provide more than 11,500 square metres of office space, while the residential tower will house 176 apartments, capped by a three-storey penthouse and two double-level sub-penthouses. Residents will also have access to resort-style amenities and direct transport links.

The proposal has won backing from local councillor Brooke Patterson of Division 6, who sees it as a catalyst for urban renewal. “One Park Lane is exactly the kind of catalytic development we want to see in Southport,” Patterson said. “The development will bring new residents, high-quality commercial space, and exciting hospitality offerings to the area, helping to activate the Central Business District and support local businesses.”
