Women In Design now open

Running until the 22nd of this month, Women In Design celebrates the contribution Melbourne women make to our built environment. Presented by the Design Institute of Australia Victoria Tasmania Branch, the exhibition profiles creative leaders from the disciplines of architecture, furniture design, graphic design, industrial design, interior design, landscape architecture, textile design, visual art and inter-disciplinary design.
The 14 contributing designers — Celina Clarke, Debbie Ryan, Helen Kontouris, Helen Watts, Jenny Underwood, Kerstin Thompson, Kirsten Bauer, Leah Heiss, Leanne Zilka, Michaela Webb, Penelope Lee, Simone LeAmon, Sue Carr and Susan Hewitt — will showcase significant projects that tell the stories of their careers.
Visitors will gain an insight into the design and development process through the presentation of plans, renderings and photographs of built projects. Scale models will sit alongside textiles, homewares, furniture, lighting and videos of projects in development.
The exhibition will also feature floor talks by participating designers and a historical component in support of the tradition of women’s contribution to our built environment.
