2013 World Luxury Spa Awards
When entries to this year’s KBDi Design 2013 Awards began to flow in, an emerging trend in bathrooms soon became apparent. In an area of the home most often clad in white, it seems we’re leaving our clean-to-the-point-of-sterile neutrals behind and embracing the beauty of nature in a big way. No longer content with “natural tones”, designers are dynamically incorporating some incredible products which celebrate the magnificence of Mother Nature.
Here KBDi shares with you some of the recent creations of Australia’s finest designers.
Janine Izzo (Brilliant SA) – Winner, Small Bathrooms (South Australia)
Grey Agate Concetto is a stand out feature of this smaller sized bathroom. In a unique blend of art, nature and technology, the Concetto brings the sophistication of semi-precious stones (sourced from all corners of the world) to the surface.
Darren Genner (Minosa) – Winner, Large Bathrooms (New South Wales)
The striking cliff face carefully incorporated in to this thoughtfully-designed interior cannot be outclassed, but is exquisitely complemented by the streamlined layout and the attentive use of a Crocodile Black Mosaic Tile.
Jasmine McClelland (Jasmine McClelland Design) – Winner, Large Bathrooms (Victoria)
A sumptuous stone composite bath sits atop a beautifully-toned timber platform, while a striking feature pendant sends floral shadows dancing across the room in this organically-inspired haven. Polished concrete floors marry well with the timber-veneered cabinetry, and a wall of featured Penny Tile adds elegance and style.
Lee Hardcastle (Enigma Interiors) – Winner, Large Bathrooms (Queensland)
The rich ochres and golden browns of Red Tiger Eye Concetto adorn the walls of this stunning bathroom. The semi-precious stones ingrained in to the panels are testament to nature’s awesome creations, and the gold-leaf basins and stunning timber detailing create a uniquely “grounded” opulence.
