Banksia Residence

On Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula, the award-winning Banksia Residence creates a stunning contrast to the surrounding landscape. A fusion of contemporary coastal living and mid-century design, the result is a structure of clean lines and traditional materials standing tall against the bush.

An exterior of neutral block cladding, bricks and hardwood timber is interspersed with Rylock’s high performance windows and sliding doors, in a Colorbond™ Monument powder coat finish. The charcoal outline frames a bright interior, forming a distinct line between outside and in. This bold effect is continued in the entry with a large door made of hardwood, echoing the landscape, positioned between two large fixed lites which simultaneously reflect the exterior and show glimpses of the luxury of the interior.

Open plan living spaces are flooded with natural light through a series of louvre and fixed windows, with the louvres delivering maximum ventilation and cool sea breezes, ideal in a temperate coastal environment. The soaring 4.3-metre ceiling leads the eye to the resort style entertaining and swimming pool.

Commercial Series Stacker Doors nearly 3 metres in height feature in the living spaces, master bedroom and rumpus room, creating a zero-threshold ease of passage with a rebated sill back into the lush landscape of the outdoors. The use of Commerical Series awning windows, each in a custom configuration, ensure sightlines aren’t obstructed.
