Spark was engaged by Taylor Cullity Lethlean to assist in the development of new elements and to support the re-design of the furniture for the second stage of Adelaide Botanic High School. Harking back to the design featured in stage one, the new furniture incorporates the architect’s selected composite product whilst retaining the same aesthetic shape for tables and benches.

The introduction of composite timber made for more practical bench and table surfaces than the previous stainless rod detail and allowed the stainless steel framework to take visual centre stage enhancing the curved, modern aesthetic of the outdoor spaces.

In addition to the redesigned picnic settings, Spark developed and manufactured from TCL’s architectural concepts a curved, meandering bench with round cafe tables for the campus. These elements, along with stainless steel Ark bins, designed by Studio Arketype and manufactured under licence by Spark, along with a selection Spark’s District Collection, including picnic settings and benches, provide a cohesive design aesthetic throughout the school grounds.

Construction work for the school was carried out by Lendlease and Spark collaborated on the installation of the furniture with Adelaide Innovative Landscaping.
