When it comes to exterior screening, RE/8™ mesh by Kaynemaile is making a statement in contemporary residential design. Manufactured from bio-circular polycarbonate, the lightweight mesh provides an alternative to traditional rigid screening materials, reducing the need for heavy or overly complex support structures while simplifying installation.
Unlike conventional rigid screening panels, RE/8™ is supplied as a flexible architectural mesh. Its free-flowing form enables designers to move beyond standard flat screens, following the shape of the supporting framework to create curves, sweeping forms and bespoke screening solutions that are difficult to achieve with conventional systems. Inspired by the principles of chainmail, each link is seamlessly connected using Kaynemaile’s zero-waste manufacturing process, resulting in a strong and durable mesh that is both functional and visually distinctive.
Available in a range of metallic and coloured finishes, RE/8™ enables designers to either replicate the appearance of metal or introduce colour as a design feature. The mesh is supplied with proprietary fixing systems and can be installed onto steel subframes where required or fixed directly to concrete and timber structures. Its ability to follow curved and custom-shaped frameworks makes the mesh suitable for a wide range of architectural applications.
Beyond its aesthetic appeal, RE/8™ delivers practical performance benefits. The open mesh construction assists with solar shading while maintaining airflow, helping to improve comfort in outdoor spaces while contributing to passive solar protection for buildings.
