Curves that Captivate: How Intrim’s Concave Mouldings Can Turn Walls into Art

When it comes to adding instant character to a space, few features rival the impact of decorative wall panelling. Intrim’s concave mouldings are fast becoming a go-to solution for designers and architects looking to create visually stunning feature walls in both residential and commercial interiors.

These innovative mouldings are crafted with a semi-circular cut-out, forming a decorative scallop effect. Their versatility means they can be installed on both flat surfaces and curved surfaces up to a 400mm radius.

Available in a variety of timber options, including raw and primed FJ Pine, MR MDF, and American Oak, Intrim’s concave mouldings come in profiles ranging from 20mm to 60mm diameters and standard 5.4m lengths. Whether you’re aiming for a raw, textural look or a sleek, painted finish, the product’s adaptability is a standout.

In residential settings, they bring a sense of flow and tactile warmth. This custom spiral staircase featuring Intrim’s CC50 moulding transforms the stairwell into a sculptural centrepiece as it winds from ground level to the second storey.

In commercial projects, concave mouldings are equally at home. At Knird Wine Bar in North Sydney, the CC30 profile in oak was used to envelop the bar front, creating a welcoming ambiance through natural timber curves.

In Wollongong, Modco Developments used the CC60 profile to elevate their office fit-out with a stylish feature wall, adding a layer of sophistication and movement to an otherwise clean-lined space.

Hair salon Meraki Collective also embraced the product’s design potential, using CC50 moulding to wrap the bases of both the reception desk and central table. Owner Tash envisioned a calming, minimalist environment centred around texture and curvature — a vision perfectly realised through Intrim’s concave solution.

“I decided to use CC50 concave for my reception desk as it is the first thing you see when you walk in and sets the scene for the curves and softness of the salon,” Tash said. “The curves in the concave desk were the perfect fit to complement the textures and shapes I have consistently used throughout the salon.”

Whether you’re designing a relaxed wine bar, a modern office, or a peaceful retreat, Intrim’s concave mouldings provide a unique way to add depth, detail, and distinction. It’s a contemporary take on wall panelling that not only enhances interiors — it transforms them.
