Just a hop, skip and a jump away from the famous Waikiki beach in Hawaii, the Wayfinder Waikiki hotel embraces its brutalist architecture and combines it with tropical touches to create fun and welcoming interior spaces.
Wayfinder Waikiki is a bustling establishment in Oahu, Hawaii, that hosts 228 rooms. Enlisting the help of Honolulu design studio The Vanguard Theory to create the interiors for the hotel, the design is a rich tropical palette that reflects the natural world and Hawaii’s heritage.
Using nature’s colour palette, the hotel interior spaces represent elements of the natural world through colour. From green and coral for land, blues and turquoise for the sea, and gold and grey for the sky, these recurring colours create bright interior spaces.
To pay homage to Hawaiian heritage, many of the rooms feature custom-designed wooden furniture elements created by local artists. These timber design features complete the rich colour palette to create inviting interior spaces for guests to feel relaxed and at home in.
The hotel also includes many details that are derived from other countries, in a nods to the multicultural fabric of Hawaii. From Japan, China, Portugal, the Philippines and Europe, all these imported traditions can be seen throughout the hotels interior spaces to create a highly detailed design.
