Mixed grades such as ABCD often include a wide range of natural features like knots, colour variation and mineral markings, resulting in a more rustic or expressive appearance.
AB Grade timber, by contrast, is far more selective. Architectural Oak uses only boards chosen for their minimal knots, subtle natural character and beautifully consistent grain.
