Real Flame Design Awards

Real Flame yet again proves why they are the leaders in gas fireplaces, with the introduction of two new incentives allowing them to give back to the architects who support them throughout the year. The ADA Awards (Architectural Design Awards) and CPD (Continuing Professional Development) are fantastic new industry support programs created to foster innovation within the Australian Design industry.

Launched in 2014, the awards are open to all practising and student architects and designers within Australia.

The ADA recognises and encourages the independent flow of creativity within the realm of this competition. There are no restrictions to how far the designers’ minds can reach, leaving this task an open playing field.

The entries can be actual or imagined projects as long as they meet criteria. The project brief requires competitors to include the type of fire: purely decorative; heating; or both. Also, the application of the fire, residential or commercial; the internal finish whether it be modern, contemporary or traditional; and all the technical research including flue and ventilation requirements, clearances and construction constraints.

The 2014 judging panel consisted of Michael Bialek from SJB Architects and Kendra Pinkus from Bates Smart, both of whom have agreed to also judge the 2015 awards. They are well known and highly respected in the industry and both bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to the judging panel.

As Michael mentions, “This is a fantastic opportunity for designers of all levels to use their imagination and talents to create innovative ways of using a Real Flame gas fireplace.”

The 2014 awards received over 300 registrations and 50 submissions.

Hosted by Real Flame, the winners were presented with their awards from the judges at an amazing degustation dinner where they had the opportunity to talk about their winning designs. The 2014 winners were from leading Australian architecture companies, b.e architecture, Plus Architecture and Bower Architecture.

This is just another extension to Real Flame’s already expansive services and another way they can give back to the industry that supports them and their growth!
