Striking Contrast Kitchen

Modern, Kitchen, Black, White    Modern, Kitchen, Black, White
“The house is a renovated Californian Bungalow so we chose a design that would complement
the heritage of the home while also keeping it modern. Shaker-style doors are typical of that era,
but the black-and-white colour scheme gives it a more modern edge and makes it more striking
than the previous all-white kitchen. It’s still, however, a timeless look and colour scheme that
won’t go out of fashion. We played with opposites with the black and white of the cabinets and
benchtops as well as the tiled wall and floor. The space is dark so we extended the window for
more natural light and incorporated lighting into the overhead cabinets. The glass doors also
give the cabinets a lighter look rather than looking too solid or heavy. Even though the tiles are
black, they are high gloss so they also help reflect light, not to mention looking great alongside

the black older-style freestanding oven, which is a real feature.”
