Home is where the comfort is

The Heritage Apartment emerges from a desire to create a space where coziness is one of its pillars, to be a place that welcomes friends and family. With muted tones and and a variety of textures, the space exudes comfort. The project aims to provide the sensation of a mountain house, with elements found in the comfort of wood and the rawness of the walls. Nothing less than an apartment with a homey feeling, and at the same time, it carries the duality of a city view, maintaining a feel of contemporary luxury.

Designed into two zones, the ‘social zone’ and the ‘intimate’ zone, the living area’s focus is the integration between the various spaces. The living room blends seamlessly into the dining room, with a soft rug providing the only demarcation of the lounge space. The European oak wood flooring of the lounge and dining is contrasted by Basaltina stone tiles in the kitchen, however continuity is preserved with the ceiling and colour scheme.

With timber lining the floor and ceiling, and pillars along the exterior covered in a high-gloss black tile, the illusion is created that light is coming from every angle. In the entrance hall, black wood is used, so the individual enters a dark environment and follows the path toward the light, thus creating a poetic atmosphere between light and dark, and playing with lights and shadows.

The use of soft materials and lining continue the theme of coziness. A long boucle lounge stretches from the lounge to the dining, while the use of rose-coloured stone brings warmth to the eating area.  The walls are lined with textured wallpaper, while chairs, lamps and side tables create sculpture while also providing function. Furniture throughout the space create interesting shapes, with each item performing as a piece of art with utility. A floating fireplace mirroring the design of the corner pillars is another instance of aesthetic usefulness, creating both a conversation piece and warmth.
