Natural timber is one of the more popular interior finishes and with Big River Group’s prefinished timber flooring, there’s a solution out there that can bring Australia’s native hardwoods indoors that can be walked on in the same day.
The range of prefinished timber flooring, initially launched in 2015, now offers a 180mm wide version to complement its 135mm range. Manufactured using Australian timber, the flooring is available in three of its most popular timber species: spotted gum, blackbutt and Australian chestnut.
The unique beauty of this range is that the native timbers are finished with a robust factory water coating veneer, which consists of a 3mm veneer of genuine hardwood, giving it the appearance of a traditional solid hardwood floor but with the stability of an engineered hardwood plywood core.
The thickness of the top veneer means it can be re-sanded, allowing the floor to remain fresh in appearance for many years. Additionally, Big River’s prefinished timber flooring comes with a 20-year limited warranty against wear-through under normal residential usage and a lifetime warranty against warping, buckling or bond failure.
Homeowners wanting to add charm to their homes can now opt for the hardwood to be installed in Herringbone Parquetry, a beautiful yet distinct v-shaped pattern that gives a timeless look. The boards are economical and can be installed on any flat and structurally sound substrate including concrete, tiles and existing timber floors.
Reddog Architects used Big River Group’s premium prefinished timber flooring for a recent project at The Shoreline Coffs, a luxury retirement community in Coffs Harbour, NSW.
“To incorporate the beautiful surroundings of the coastal environment, we wanted to include natural materials to create a relaxing atmosphere for residents transitioning into the next stage of their lives,” Reddog Architects’ George Martin says.
