It’s Grow Time!

Greenhouses designed to nurture a more sustainable future for Australia. Established in 2007 by visionary entrepreneur John Herrick, Winter Gardenz began with a simple goal: to deliver durable, design-forward greenhouses that could withstand New Zealand’s ever-changing climate.

Over the last 17 years, that goal has blossomed into one of Australasia’s most recognised and respected greenhouse brands, celebrated for its quality materials, exceptional light transmission, and sleek architectural finish.

From its earliest days, Winter Gardenz has been fully designed and manufactured in New Zealand. The company quickly developed a reputation for building high-performance greenhouses using thick aluminium framing and 4mm toughened safety glass, offering unrivalled durability with a distinctly modern aesthetic. It wasn’t long before the buzz reached across the Tasman, and Australian growers and home gardeners began discovering the Winter Gardenz difference for themselves.

For more than 15 years, Australians have relied on these structures — from backyard hobbyists in Brisbane to professional growers in Victoria — appreciating their long-lasting performance and low-maintenance design. In response to growing demand, Winter Gardenz recently marked a major milestone: securing a new warehouse facility in Somerville, Victoria with the intent of launching local manufacturing in Australia.

Winter Gardenz now has manufacturing in both Australia and New Zealand, with some units still being shipped from New Zealand during the transition process as the company works to localise fabrication and fulfillment for Australian customers. By manufacturing within Australia, Winter Gardenz aims to offer faster delivery, lower freight costs, and a lighter carbon footprint, while supporting local jobs and suppliers.

“Expanding our footprint into Australia is more than logistics — it’s a commitment to regional resilience and partnership,” says the Winter Gardenz team. “Our greenhouses have always been built for Southern Hemisphere conditions. Now, they’ll be built in the country they’re designed to serve.”

The company offers a broad range of greenhouse models, from compact 2m x 2m units for kitchen gardeners to expansive glasshouses for propagation and semi-commercial use. Thoughtful accessories, from automated roof vents to customisable shelving, allow customers to scale their setup with complete confidence.

Whether you’re nurturing tomatoes in the winter or cultivating microgreens year-round, Winter Gardenz greenhouses are designed to empower gardeners with consistency, elegance, and peace of mind. As local manufacturing takes shape, Australian customers can look forward to the same renowned quality — delivered faster and made even more locally.

With an eye on sustainability and quality, and a passion for helping growers and home gardeners thrive, Winter Gardenz is proud to deepen its roots in Australia and grow alongside the people who inspire its mission.
