Fronius Wins in the Energy Storage Inspection 2024

Conducted annually in Berlin, the Energy Storage Inspection is considered Europe’s paramount study on the topic of system efficiency for PV storage systems. Overall, the Fronius GEN24 Plus and BYD Battery-Box Premium duo has been among the most efficient solutions for the fifth consecutive year.

Fronius highly values this independent study, as it accounts for not only the inverter conversions efficiency but also the relevant losses of a storage system, enabling a holistic assessment and increasing transparency.

The Energy Storage Inspection

Independent testers assess the overall efficiency of storage systems, analysing the interaction between a hybrid inverter and a battery storage. Two different reference cases are used for evaluation.

The first case analyses the SPI (System Performance Index) for a 5 kW PV system with an annual household consumption of 5,010 kWh. In the 5 kW reference case, the Fronius Primo GEN24 6.0 Plus, together with the BYD Battery-Box Premium HVS 7.7, achieves an SPI of 92.6%.

The second reference case combines a 10 kW PV system with a heat pump (2,664 kWh/year) and an electric car (1,690 kWh/year), along with an annual household consumption of 5,010 kWh. In the 10 kW reference case, the Fronius Symo GEN24 10.0 Plus, paired with the BYD Battery-Box Premium HVS 10.2, achieves an SPI of 95.4%.

As Julian Poßegger, technical support at Fronius, explains, “Together, the two components shine, especially in terms of system efficiency and high charging and discharging capabilities.”
