ASKO embraces architectural finishes for the modern kitchen

As residential kitchens continue to evolve into highly curated living spaces, appliance design is shifting beyond functionality to become an integral part of the overall architectural palette.

Rather than standing apart as purely practical additions, appliances are increasingly expected to complement the materials, finishes and joinery that define contemporary interiors.

Responding to this trend, ASKO has expanded its premium appliance collection with a refined palette of Black Steel, Graphite Black and Titanium finishes, offering designers greater flexibility when creating seamless kitchen and laundry spaces. As darker timber veneers, charcoal cabinetry and matte black finishes become increasingly popular, traditional white or stainless steel appliances can interrupt the visual continuity of a carefully considered design.

ASKO’s approach instead positions appliances as architectural elements that sit comfortably within bespoke interiors while retaining a distinctive identity. The built-in Craft Oven Range exemplifies this direction, with brushed Black Steel and Graphite Black finishes paired with sculpted metal frames designed to sit flush with surrounding cabinetry. The collection includes pyrolytic ovens, combination steam ovens, warming and vacuum drawers, and integrated coffee machines, creating a cohesive design language across the kitchen.

While aesthetics play an increasingly important role, ASKO continues to combine Scandinavian minimalism with engineering-led innovation. The brand, founded in Sweden more than 75 years ago, remains guided by principles of functional design, quality craftsmanship and environmental responsibility.

Its built-in Celsius ovens demonstrate how performance can complement architectural design. Featuring Celsius°Cooking™ technology, multiple sensors monitor temperature and moisture levels to deliver precise cooking results while preserving flavour and nutrients. A vaulted oven ceiling, inspired by traditional wood-fired ovens, promotes even heat circulation, while pyrolytic self-cleaning functions and intuitive touchscreen controls enhance everyday usability without compromising the clean visual aesthetic.

The same philosophy extends to ASKO’s dishwasher range, where the emphasis on durable steel construction reflects both longevity and minimalist design. The brand’s signature 8 Steel™ concept replaces plastic components with stainless steel wherever possible, contributing to both durability and a refined appearance. Features including Auto Dose, Flexi Racks™, UV Cleanse mode and Turbo Combi Drying™ combine practical performance with thoughtful design.

As kitchens become increasingly open, connected and design driven, appliance finishes are emerging as an important specification consideration. By moving beyond conventional white and stainless steel, ASKO is helping architects and designers create interiors where appliances become a natural extension of the material palette, reinforcing the cohesive, architectural character of the modern home.
