Until recently, conventional toughened glass plate has been used for pool windows in Australia, as aquarium-grade acrylics were not readily available or understood in this market. The introduction of Reynolds R-Cast to the Australian pool industry by Clearwater Acrylic has now established aquarium-grade acrylic as the product of choice for incorporation into high-end pool designs.
The product, manufactured by Reynolds Polymer Technology, is designed for external use and will not yellow or degrade under exposure to sunlight. Clearwater Acrylic is the exclusive Australian distributor of Reynolds R-Cast for swimming pool applications.
Unlike glass, acrylic panels can be engineered to any thickness and dimensions to suit your requirement. The product provides designers with great freedom as panels can be curved, textured and coloured. Single-piece panels up to 12 metres long, 1500mm high and up to 100mm thick have been designed and installed by Clearwater Acrylic in recent projects.
R-Cast acrylic is guaranteed by Reynolds Polymer Technology to maintain optical clarity and structural performance under load for 10 years. Acrylic panels have very high-impact strength and will not de-laminate, shatter or fracture, making the product the ideal structural solution for submerged window applications. Aquarium-grade cast-acrylic is optically significantly superior to conventional glass panels.
