E&S Trading: the mixer masters

The benefits of a mixer tap for your kitchen

You may not realise it, but your tap is one of the most important assets in your kitchen. Why? Because it is one of the most-used items in the cooking area. While it may not be the first item on your design agenda, you ought to give it some careful consideration to avoid hassles later on.

What type of tap to choose is the first question you should ask yourself. The kitchen mixer tap is a popular style as it combines hot and cold water, which pours out of the same spout. It is operated by a single/double lever or screw tap. The water temperature and flow of a mixer tap can be adjusted by a lever, or by taps that are mounted on the bench or the wall either side of the spout. Likewise, it can controlled via taps that are fitted to the body of the spout, known as monobloc mixer taps.

Available in a variety of styles and materials (eg, chrome, stainless steel, brushed steel, nickel etc), the kitchen mixer can suit almost every type of kitchen from contemporary to country. It can also come with a spray head, which is attached at the spout, allowing you to peel vegetables or rinse plates. An alternative is the pull-out spray, which makes it easy to fill up large pots, vases or buckets outside the sink area. Other options for the kitchen mixer include fitting a water purifier that offers instant filtered drinking water.

Before purchasing, make sure to consider the water rating (WELS) of a tap — the more stars a tap has, the more efficient it is. Click here to watch a video from Rob Sinclair, Managing Director of E&S Trading for more information.
