Situated in the heart of Adelaide, Press* Food & Wine stands as a true culinary institution, delighting guests for many years. Designed by the talented Claire Kneebone of Claire Kneebone Studio, the refreshed interior reveals a light-filled, vibrant space that balances warmth and sophistication. Kneebone’s vision has transformed the venue into a captivating environment that continues to surprise and enchant Adelaide diners.
At the centre of this transformation lies Cello Marble, featured prominently along the bar and a large communal dining table. This striking Natural Stone establishes visual continuity throughout the restaurant, serving as the focal point of the interior. With its deep veining and rich brown hue enhanced by subtle grey undertones, Cello Marble evokes a sense of heritage and timeless beauty, an elegant reflection of Press* Food & Wine’s enduring presence in Adelaide’s dining scene.
The design intent was to create a space that feels lighter and more uplifting, one that radiates an inviting energy while maintaining intimacy and comfort. Selecting the right stone played a central role in achieving this balance. Cello Marble, with its natural variation, striking veining, and depth of colour, brings personality and character to the interior. Guests interact directly with the stone as they dine, making it not only a design statement but also a tactile experience and an engaging conversation piece.
Upon entering, the eye is immediately drawn to the bar at the heart of the restaurant, elegantly wrapped in Cello Marble. This feature anchors the space, inviting guests to enjoy contemporary European cuisine and an extensive wine list while connecting with others in a lively, social setting. The pairing of microcement with the Marble creates a natural flow through the space, while the stone’s dark veining and organic patterns add texture and visual interest, reminiscent of natural landscapes.
CDK Stone take pride in sourcing the world’s most exceptional Natural Stones to meet the refined expectations of the Australian design community. Their commitment to quality, and aesthetic excellence ensures that every designer, architect, and homeowner can find a material that brings their vision to life. With a stone as captivating as Cello Marble, spaces transcend functionality, they become sanctuaries of enduring beauty, texture, and timeless style.
